Obituary for George Balog Jr.

George Balog Jr., 79, of Weirton, WV, passed away at 5:19 AM on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Trinity Medical Center, Steubenville, OH.

George was born on September 3, 1938, Weirton, WV. He was the son of the late George and Mary (Makuszewska) Balog.

George was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, WV. He retired after 38 years from Weirton Steel Corp as a Fireman and EMT. George was proud to be the leader of the Boy Scouts Troop 152, Follansbee, WV for 15 years. In his spare time, George loved to play golf and spent time with his family.

In addition his parents, George was preceded in death by his two sons, Timothy and Christopher Balog.

George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Louise (Figurski) Balog of Weirton, WV, two children, Becky DiAngelo and her husband, Robert of Weirton, WV, Doug Balog and his wife, Lorrie of Mooresville, NC, six grandchildren, Justin Dew, Brandi DiAngelo Helinski and her husband, Adam, Derek DiAngelo, and Garrett, Colton and Maddox Balog, three great grandchildren, Arryonnah Dew, and Mackenzie and Ryleigh Helinski, a sister, Jeannette Hunsberger and her husband, Rod of Waldorf, MD, a niece and three nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 31, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM with Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717, where funeral will commence on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 9:30 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee, WV with Father Cody Ford, presiding.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV.
