Obituary for Pauline Ora Sullivan (Dick)

Pauline Ora (Dick) Sullivan, 84, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully in the arms of family, at 6:40 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Gables Nursing Center, Hopedale, OH, at which time their hearts broke open with sadness.

Pauline was born on January 3, 1932 in Bethany, WV. She was the daughter of the late Ronald R. and Ora (Wolfe) Dick.

Pauline was a graduate of Bethany High School. She was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and Bethany Memorial. Pauline worked as a cook at Bethany College and retired from the Brooke County School System, mainly working at Brooke High School. She was a very generous person donating to many different organizations. Pauline loved crafting and gardening and over the years she was a very active Den Mother. “Our mother was love, generosity, kindness, complete giving and a gentle heart. The lord will hold her in his arms, but she will remain in our hearts forever. We will miss her gentle spirit.”

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her three children, James Sullivan Jr., Judi Lyn Sullivan, and Kimberly Ann Sullivan, four sisters, Evelyn Nelson, Dorothy Dick, Frances Brythe and Irma Counselman and a brother, Richard Dick.

Pauline is survived by her children, Janice Finch and her husband, Charles of Bloomingdale, OH, James E. Sullivan III of Colliers, WV, John L. Sullivan, of Wellsburg, WV, and Paula Jo Sullivan and her fiancé, David Bennett, of Colliers, a cherished grandson, Harry Friend III and his wife, Joane of Follansbee, WV, and a great granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Friend, a brother, Wayne Dick of Chesapeake, VA, a sister, Judy Farrell and her husband, Don of Forestburg, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services were held at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551 with Reverend Carl Tribett, Officiating.

Interment followed at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.
