Obituary for Arnold M. Horovitz

Arnold M. Horovitz, 76, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, PA.

Arnold was born February 1, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of the late Reuben Horovitz and Jean (Liff) Horovitz.

Arnold graduated from Taylor Allderdice and went on to complete his undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Upon completion, he served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Arnold received numerous medals for his service to include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, SPS M14 and SPSM16, but most notifiable Arnold was 100% disabled after his exposure to Agent Orange which was certified and sent to Vietnam by President Richard Nixon. Upon returning to the States he went back to the University of Pittsburgh to receive his law degree.
Arnold was a distinguished and prestigious zoning and real estate attorney in Pittsburgh for 40 years under his practice of Arnold M. Horovitz PA. He received numerous awards and proclamations; the most distinguished being the Eastside Alliance Citizen of the Year Award for his volunteerism and leadership. Being very civic minded, Arnold was a member of various community groups to include the Friendship Preservation Group as a founding member and a 20 year member of the Democratic Committee. Arnold will be missed and remembered by his community.

In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Printz.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 31 years and his companion of 49 years, Jane Miller of Pittsburgh, PA, a brother Zola Horovitz, Marlene of Boca Raton, FL, nephew, Reid, wife, Marlene Hollender, their daughter, Bonna, husband, Joel Finkelstein, nephew, Barry Printz, wife, Danielle, nephew, Dr. David Printz, wife, Dr. Beth, nephew, Daniel Printz and wife Erika, and his canine companion, Buddy.

In addition, Arnold was a fervent believer in the (small d) democratic process. Professionally, he always worked hard for his community and the little guy and, therefore, consistently voted (large D) Democratic. He grew to detest the frauds perpetrated on American Democracy by tRump and his corps of enablers including, but not limited to Moscow Mitch McConnell, Lindsey 'Brown Lips' Graham, Ted 'my wife is ugly' Cruz and the newly configured ultra-right US Supreme Court.

A Public Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Franklin Cemetery, 1230 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, WV with Military honors will be conducted by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

Shiva will occur on Monday and Tuesday at the family home in Pittsburgh, PA.
