Obituary for Catherine "Betty" Bishop
Catherine “Betty” Bishop, 89, of Belmont, OH, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 1:40 PM on Friday, May 3, 2019 at her residence at ResCare under the care of the staff and Valley Hospice.
Catherine was born on July 6, 1929 in Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Franklin Abraham Bishop and Sarah Romaine (Bottner) Bishop.
Catherine worked as a baby sitter during her life. She attended church as a child at Hooverson Heights Church of Christ and later at the Weirton United Methodist Church. Catherine was a residence for many years of ResCare where she enjoy her fellowship and made many of life long friends. Many will remember Betty for her crafts, collecting dolls, singing and getting dressed up.
In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her seven sisters, Sarah Salerno, Eleanor Harlan, Audrey Prekup, Nahomi Bowen, Alice Bishop, Shirley Galbrath and Linda Jones, four brothers, Mark, Homer, Joe and Frank Bishop, two daughters, Diana Bishop and Sadie Gaston, and a granddaughter.
Catherine is survived by her three children, Wayne Burt of Weirton, WV, Johnnie Wallace of Cincinnati, OH and Lori Coen of Wellsburg, WV, 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a sister, Mary White of New Castle, PA, numerous nieces and nephews and her friends and care takers at ResCare.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from Noon until time of Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with James J. Harlan, officiating.
Interment will follow next to her parents at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV.
