Obituary for David Hugh Schwertfeger
David Hugh Schwertfeger, 71 of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 4:10 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Trinity Medical Center, Steubenville, OH.
David was born on June 20, 1948 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Charles “C.M.” Milford Schwertfeger and Alice (Cox) Schwertfeger.
David served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 8 years during peacetime abroad. He retired from Weirton Medical Center as a Computer Programmer. Growing up the family were members of the Follansbee United Methodist Church. Many will remember David as an avid Bowler and Golfer.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Schwertfeger.
David is survived by his brother, Jason Schwertfeger and his wife Doris of North Carolina, a nephew, Brandon, a niece, Stephanie, four great nieces, Bella, Michaela, Brighton and Adeline and a great nephew, Walker.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 1:00 until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, with Patricia Ramsey, Certified Lay Minister and Military Honors by the United States Air Force and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
Interment will be held privately at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV
