Obituary for Dona Lee Banks (Hartsik)

Dona Lee (Hartsik) Banks, 75 of Washington, PA, passed peacefully away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Donnell House, Washington, PA under the care of Concordia Hospice.

Dona was born on June 1, 1947 in Canonsburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary “Mickey” (Gilbert) Hartsik.

Dona started working with European Health Spa, Pittsburgh as an instructor working the employment ladder to Manager. Through her hard work and dedication, Dona was able to pursue her dreams of owning and operating Physically Elite, a gym and Health Research, a vitamin company. She had a perfect sense of design especially with Leopard prints which she loved with the colors red and gold. Many will remember Dona as the Mayor of the Executive House better known as the “Social Butterfly”, for her love of dancing, personalized poems in every card she sent, red wine and playing cards; but most of all, for being the kindest person that made everyone else better with a go personality of Fun, Fun, Fun. Some will think the party ended, but Dona will live on in the dance, the drink of red wine and the smile left behind by those she loved.

In addition to her parents, Dona was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Banks.

Dona is survived by her daughter, Amy Banks and her companion, Craig Mayton of Cannonsburg, PA, grand dogs, Frankie and Bourbon, two sisters, Linda Hilderbrand and her husband, Mike and Debbie Mecca and her husband, Len, all of Washington, PA, two nieces, Jaclyn McCain and her husband, Mike and Laurel Mecca, her one and only great nephew, Jack McCain and her cat, Zoey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Chambers Funeral Home of Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 is honored and privileged to assist the Banks family during this time of sorrow and celebration of Dona’s Life.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, C/o Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV 26070
