Obituary for Donald Samuel Hipkiss Sr.
Donald Samuel Hipkiss Sr., 79 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 2:52 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital, Weirton, WV.
Donald was born on December 22, 1943 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late John William Hipkiss and Amelia Lindsay (Hunter) Hipkiss.
Donald served proudly in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam Conflict aboard. He retired with over 20 years of service to Banner Fiberboard, Wellsburg, WV. Many will remember Donald for his love of bowling at Holiday Lanes with the Monday Valley League and Wednesday Steel City League under the name of Shrekâs Pro Shop.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his two brothers, John and Robert "Bob" Hipkiss and a sister, Ann Elizabeth Hipkiss.
Donald is survived by his four children, Brandi Nichols and her husband, Matthew of Columbus, OH, Nicki Shaver and her husband, Lee of Akron, OH, Donald Samuel Hipkiss Jr. of Mingo Junction, OH and Cyndi Cox and her husband, Caleb of Valley, WA, three sisters, Edie Ferguson and her husband, Walter of Wellsburg, WV, Velma Sperringer of Wellsburg, WV and Linda Clem and her husband, Russell of Follansbee, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January, 26, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Reverend Debra Dague, officiating.
Interment will follow at St. John Haven of Rest Cemetery, Colliers, WV with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
