Obituary for Donald I. Geary

Donald I. Geary, 85 of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 4:10 AM on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Meadows of Cadiz, OH under the care of the staff and Community Hospice.

Donald was born on May 17, 1934 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late John Geary and Ethel (Irvin) Geary.

Donald served in the United States Army on the front line of duty during the Korean War. He retired after 39 years from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Plant. He was a member of the Hooverson Heights Church of the Nazarene and the Masonic Lodge, Wellsburg . Many will remember Donald for his service to the country, devotion to church and his love for music; he enjoyed playing a variety of instruments and singing in several bands in WV and Florida, but most of all, his love of family.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee Geary, a son, Kenneth Patrick Geary.

Donald is survived by his three children, John (Vicki) Geary, Fairmont, WV, Donald Lou (Libbie) Geary, Newport, NC, Jack (Debbie) Geary, Follansbee, WV, seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Nicole) Geary, Fairmont, WV, Brandon (Kari) Geary, Parkersburg, WV, Natalie (James) Mascaro, Fairmont, WV, Sam Geary, Burlington, NC, Mack (Hailey) Geary, Durham, NC, Jacob Geary, Newport, NC, Sierra Geary, Follansbee, WV, and five great- grandchildren, Sadie & Maggie Geary, Parkersburg, WV, Cooper Geary, Fairmont, WV, Samual Mascaro Fairmont, WV and Connor Geary, Burlington, NC.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 Noon at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717, with Reverend Larry Barkley, officiating and with military honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

Interment will follow at Richmond Union Cemetery, Salem Township, OH.
