Obituary

Donald L. "Red" Emery, 91, of Conway, SC, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019.

He was born April 28, 1927 in Copeland, VA, a son of Albert and Anne Emery.

Red proudly served his country as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and subsequently re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served as a radio operator. He worked as a melting foreman at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation until retiring in 1977 with over 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his Grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Spear Emery, and by four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his daughter, Dona Ensell (Gary) of Conway SC with whom he resided, a son, Frederick Taylor (Cynthia) of Apex NC, his three grandsons, Jeremy Taylor of Cleveland, TN, Jason Ensell (Christy) of Lakeside Park, KY, and Scott Ensell (Emily) of Raleigh, NC, and one great grandson. He is also survived by his second wife, Helen Long Emery of Pine Grove, WV.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at the James Funeral Home Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, with Pastor Dan Holt officiating.

Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV with Military Honors by the United States Navy, Air Force and American Legion Post 10, Weirton, WV.
