Obituary for Garnet Clarence "Gary" Vance
Garnet “Gary” “Hoss” Clarence Vance, 71 of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 2:51 AM on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his residence.
Gary was born on May 26, 1951 in Logan, WV. He was the son of the late Lyle Chester Vance Sr. and Rosie Leona (White) Vance.
Gary served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a greaser and dynamite operator at Valley Camp and Winsor Coal Company. Many will remember Gary for his love of playing guitar and singing, watching movies, fishing and eating sausage with biscuits and gravy; but most of all, being there for his family.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Eileen Vance, a daughter, Angela Pilger, two siblings, Rose “Sissy” Marcum and Lyle “Bill” Vance Jr.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Miranda Brown and her companion, Shane of Follansbee, WV, two grandchildren, Isaiah Debnar and Regina Star Debnar, five siblings, Brenda Kazee of Kingsport, TN, Stella “Bo” Monkman and her husband, Neil of Cape Coral, FL, Patricia “Bang” Stuteville and her husband, Larry of Kansas City, KS, Thelma “Fay” Toler of Charleston, WV and Christopher “Mike” Michael Vance of Charleston, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
