Obituary for Geneva L. McGowan (Goodman)
Geneva L. (Goodman) McGowan, 103 of Follansbee, WV, formerly of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Golden Oaks, Follansbee, WV under the care of the staff and Valley Hospice.
Geneva was born on October 21, 1915 in Findley, OH. She was the daughter of the Hershel P. and Nellie M. (Myers) Goodman.
Geneva was Methodist by denomination of faith and a homemaker, who was a member of the Brooke County Senior Center. Many will remember Geneva for her love of reading, traveling, crossword puzzles, gardening; but most of all the love of her family.
In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. McGowan , a son, C Robert McGowan, a grandson, three siblings, Martha Goodman, Norma Allen and Charles Goodman.
Geneva is survived by her three children, Larry E. McGowan and his wife, Beulah, Melvin L. McGowan and his wife, Trish and Marlene Hanlon and her husband, Ralph, all of Wellsburg, WV, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with her grandson, Tom McGowan, officiating.
Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.
