Obituary for Glenn Wilbur Ohler

Glenn Wilbur Ohler, 88 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 2:38 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his residence.

Glenn was born on September 28, 1931 in Somerset, PA. He was the son of the late Harry Franklin Ohler and Helen Elizabeth (Nead) Ohler.

Glenn served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War receiving the Occupation Medal Japan, Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star and United Nations Service Medal. He retired after 37 years of service as the Union Chairman at Weirton Steel. Many will remember Glenn for his love of fishing, bowling and softball.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Ohler, Ruth Smith, Jean Lisbon, Janet Sovitch, Trudell “Toots” Tennant, Richard, Bob and David Ohler.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lorraine (Adams) Oher, three children, Carolyn Matteson and her husband, Gary, Roy Ohler and Howard Ohler, all of Wellsburg, WV, five grandchildren, William Matteson and his wife, Laura, Matthew Matteson and his wife, Amy, Hannah Hazel and her husband, Matt, Kayley Ohler and Cristian Ohler and companion, Annie, nine great grandchildren with twins A and B on the way, two brothers, Les Ohler and his wife, Josephine and Jim Ohler and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 2:00 until time of Funeral Service at 4:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551, with Pastor Brian Knight, officiating. Followed by Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard.
