Obituary for Jackie R. Holloway

Jackie R. Holloway, 77 of Wellsburg, WV: a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and a child of Christ passed away unexpectedly at 6:10 AM on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Frederick Health, Frederick, MD.

Jack was born on February 4, 1943 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Robert L. Holloway Sr. and Helen Pearl (Colley) Holloway.

Jack served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis. He was a member of the New Day Christian Center, Wellsburg, WV. Although he retired from Lowes as a department head lead, he held many titles. He was both gentle when ministering to the sick and strong as when he was a lumberjack. Being known as the “Jack-of-all-trades” he could accomplish anything he set his mind to, from teaching himself to play any musical instrument to creating great pieces of art. He was a carpenter, business owner, a leader and exceled in any position he ever held.

Jack was a man who knew no strangers and showed God's love through his compassion, service and sacrifice to anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Rita Arlene (Merwick) Holloway and a brother, John Holloway.

Jack is survived by his friend and companion, Karin Reinacher of Wellsburg, four children, Juanita (John) Thomas, Jacquelynn Dennis, all of New Market, MD, Jason (Trish) Holloway of Follansbee, WV and John Holloway of Naples, FL, 12 grandchildren, Billy, Jordan, Isaiah and Grace Thomas, Luciano Tauraso, Quincy and Cayla Dennis, Dylan and Cody Holloway. Christopher, Cassidy and Jessie Holloway, one great grandchild, Arianna Thomas, two siblings, Robert Holloway Jr. and Mary Lou (Edward) Monroe, both of Wellsburg, WV, nieces, Melissa (Dean) Williams and Natalie (Aaron) Horner , many other nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Zimba and Casey.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 12:00 – 2:00PM, 6:00-8:00PM and again on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM until 12 Noon at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with a private Family Service with John Keener, officiating.

Please note that limited access and social distancing will be in place during visitation and funeral service, all attendees will be required to wear a mask or face covering and hand sanitizer station will be available. In addition, if you are unable to attend or not feeling well, please consider sending a card or leaving an online condolence.

A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Brooke Cemetery with Military Honors by the United State Navy and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
