James "John" Long, 80 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 3:36 AM on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at his residence under the care of his family with support of Amedisys Hospice.

James was born on October 8, 1939 in Wellsville, OH. He was the son of the late James and Mae (Donahue) Long.

James served proudly in the United States Army in France with 8 years of service reaching rank of SP5. He received the SS-M-14, Expert M-14, Letter of Appreciation and Good Conduct Medal 1st Award. James came back and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation as an Electrician. Many will remember John for his love of singing Karaoke, playing Euchre and his passion for his dogs; but most of all, for his love and dedication to his family.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Moskonas.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Geraldine Marie (Woods) Long of Wellsburg, WV, two daughters, Debbie Granchie and her husband, John of Loganton, PA and Sherry Lairamore and her husband, Bryon of Midway, GA, four grandchildren, Tara and her husband, Benny, Ryan, Collin and Carlee, two great grandchildren, twins, Coda and Remington.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with son-in-law, John Granchie, officiating.
