Obituary for James Howard McAllister

James Howard McAllister, 86 of Wintersville, OH, passed away at 6:21 PM on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Country Club Manor, Steubenville, OH.

James was born on March 10, 1936 in Colliers, WV. He was the son of the late James Cyrus McAllister and Irene Violet (Thompson) McAllister.

James was a 1955 graduate of Steubenville High School where he was a member of the Big Red Marching Band, Orchestra and Key Club. After 42 years of service in 1997, James retired as a repairman at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Steubenville, OH. Many will remember James for his love of music playing the guitar and trumpet, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping at Tappan Lake; but most of all, spending time with family and the grandkids.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Laura (Juliano) McAllister, died Sept. 27, 2005, daughter, Lynn Ann O’Dell and her husband, Mark, seven siblings, Virginia Fletcher, Ethel, Fred, Edward, Charlotte and Helen McAllister, Shirley Staten, and an infant sister, Charlotte.

James is survived by his companion of 17 years, Mary Ann Sadler, four children, Roxanna McAllister, Jamie Lynn McAllister and fiancé Jay Moore, James Joseph McAllister and his wife, Kirsten, and Thomas Allen McAllister and his wife, Jessica, all of Steubenville, OH, nine grandchildren, Kristy (Ryan) Garman, Sarah (Crystal) Richards-Guzniczak, Liam McAllister, Mariah (Kyle) Hennie, Sophia McAllister, Amanda and Megan Ringley, Kevin (Megan) O’Dell and Megan O’Dell and Tripp McAllister, great grandchildren, Clyde, Leana and Marcy O'Dell, five siblings, Albert (Maryann) McAllister of Follansbee, WV, Theodore (Phyllis) McAllister, Joseph (Margaret) McAllister, all of Wellsburg, WV, David (Sharyn) McAllister of Weirton, WV, and Charles (Judy) McAllister of Wellsburg, WV, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 11AM until time of Homegoing Service at 2:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Pastor Rudy McAllister, presiding.
