Obituary for John Carl Schwarz
John Carl Schwarz, 77, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away 9:01 PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV.
John was born on October 23, 1941 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late John Jacob and R. Ann (Churchman) Schwarz.
John was retired from Smurfit – Stone Container, Wellsburg as the paste marker. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg and the NRA. Many will remember John for his hard work and his core values of respect, responsibility, faith and family; but most of all, for his handlebar mustache and his commentary of the evening news.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Tom Wylie, and aunt, Gretchen Schwarz.
John is survived by his love and dedicated wife of 46.5 years, Patricia Ann (Brown) Schwarz of Wellsburg, WV, two children, Dianne Schwarz of Wellsburg, WV and John T. Schwarz and his wife, Amy of Fayetteville, WV, two grandchildren, Kaleigh and Jacob Schwarz, two sisters, Mary Ann Bell of St. Augustine, FL and Angela Hockenberry of Huntington Beach, CA, a nephew, Mark Hockenberry, a niece, Meredith Wylie Abney and numerous cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM and again on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 9:30 until time of Liturgy of the Word at 10:00AM at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Father Dan Pisano, presiding.
Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.
