Obituary for John Lee Geary
John Lee Geary, 80, of Wellsburg, WV, went to be with the Lord at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Continuous Care, Wheeling, WV with his family at his side.
John was born on April 14, 1942 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late John Lewis Geary and Irene Mae (Manning) Geary.
John retired as a truck driver, known as "Preacher" after 45 years hauling steel. He was a member of the Wellsburg Church of the Nazarene and the Wellsburg Masonic Lodge #2. Many will remember John for his love of riding his trike, playing euchre and his deep faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his three siblings, Owen Geary, Isabelle Barnes and Cathy Keenan.
John is survived by his two children, John M. Geary and his wife, Kim of West Liberty, WV and Melissa D. Wood and her companion, David Mitchell of St. Clairsville, OH, a granddaughter, Meleah Wood, two siblings, Kathleen Baker of Moundsville, WV and Mary Ellen Pittman and her husband, Sam of Armstrong Mills, OH, several nieces and nephews and his wife, Rena Smith Malson.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday, February 27, 2023 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717 with Pastor Brian Knight, officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Dallas, WV with Masonic Service by his brothers at the Wellsburg Lodge #2.
