Obituary

John Joseph Wilson, 96 of Weirton, WV, passed away at 1:55 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Mary Jane Brooks, Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.

John was born on August 16, 1923 in New York, NY. He was the son of the late Clarence and Katherine (Kurtis) Wilson.

John served eight years in the United States Navy during WWII and Korean War. He was then honorably discharged from the United States Army after two years of service. John was a devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church Weirton, WV. He retired from Con Edison as a general foreman. Many will remember John for his love of cars and traveling; but most of all, the dedication to his wife and family.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his two brothers, William Wilson – K.I.A. WWII and George Wilson and a sister, Dorothy Donavan.

John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bella Lee (Wright) Saunders Wilson of Weirton, WV, a daughter, Linda Price and her husband, Joe of Virginia, four step children, Rebecca Lee Denny of Wellsburg, WV, Rhonda Jill Ciccolella and her husband, Jerry of Follansbee, WV, Tessa Lynette Peters and her husband, Jeffrey of Weirton, WV and Robert Darrell Saunders of Elkins, WV, five grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 11:00 until time of Liturgy of the Word at 12 Noon at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, with Father Babu Joseph Elamturuthil, presiding following with Military Honors by the United States Navy and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

Interment will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA .
