Obituary for John Frederick Rickey
John Frederick Rickey, 86 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 6:56 AM on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Brightwood Center, Follansbee, WV.
John was born on August 10, 1934 in Havana, KS. He was the son of the late Robert David Rickey and Iva Mae (Howell) Rickey.
John worked as a skilled glass blower until moving to West Virginia to work at Koopers Industries. He retired after 20 years in the cleaning and maintenance department. Many will remember John for his love of fishing; but most of all, for his scroll saw skills.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Lee (Griffith) Rickey and his siblings.
John is survived by his step daughter, Georgia Fatheringham and her husband, Robert of Beech Bottom, WV, three daughters, Carol McCleod and her husband, James of Beaver, PA, Patricia Wigley of Morgantown, WV and Sharon Bebo of Wheeling, WV, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 12 Noon until time of Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Funeral Chaplain, Reverend Sharon Van Dam, officiating.
Please note that limited access and social distancing will be in place during the visitation and service. All attendees will be required to wear a mask or face covering. In addition, if you are unable to attend or not feeling well, please consider sending a card or leaving an online condolence.
Interment will follow at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom, WV.
