Obituary for Laura Mae Riggs (Hiley)
Laura Mae (Hiley) Riggs, 88 of Colliers, WV, passed away at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at her residence under the care of her family with the assistance of Valley Hospice.
Laura was born on September 8, 1933, in Pennsboro, WV. She was the daughter of the late Audra M. and Minnie (Moore) Hiley.
Laura was a member of the Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church in Weirton, WV. She worked as an Avon Lady for 43 years achieving team leader and numerous awards. Many will remember her for her love of sewing, cooking, and gardening; but most of all, being involved with her family especially through the years with PTA for her kids and grandkids.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart “Geral” Riggs, a son Daniel Riggs, a son-in-law Jeffrey Wells and a sister, Shirley Cottrill.
She is survived by her four children, Diana Stoaks and her husband, Rick of Follansbee, WV, Tim Riggs and his wife, Sandy of Madison, WV, Valerie Wells of Colliers, WV and Rodney Riggs of Wetumpka, AL eight grandchildren, Ashley, Chad, Shannon, Shelby, Jason, Rod, Desirrae, and Sharee; and eight great-grandchildren, Rainna, Sebastian, Evan, Luke, Mackensie, Lily, Samaya, and Kaylie, a sister, Sharron Antel and her husband, Gary of Wheeling, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 19, from 12:00 Noon until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Pastor Russell Buchanan, officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV.
