Obituary for Lucille Carolyn Peel (Morrison)
Lucille Carolyn (Morrison) Peel, 89 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 12:48 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Wyngate, Weirton, WV.
Lucille was born on June 9, 1933 in Wellsburg, WV. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Carter Morrison and Carrie (Hardsouk) Morrison.
Lucille was a 1951 graduate of Wellsburg High School proceeding on to West Liberty State College graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1955 and finally from West Virginia University with a Masters of Arts in 1962. She taught for 27 years for the Brooke County School System, served two years as a case worker for the Brooke County Dept of Welfare in addition to three years in West Geauga School District. Lucille retired from education in 1988.
Lucille was an active member of the Wellsburg Christian Church serving with the Christian Women’s Fellowship and the Outreach Committee. In addition to her church service, Lucille was a member of the Brooke County Adult Literacy Council and the Brooke County Friends of the Library.
Many will remember Lucille for her deep faith in God and always making sure that everyone that needed help with reading received assistance through numerous programs, but especially the library always having a book for anyone.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Raymond Peel and two sisters, Eleanor Louise Wilson Jacob and Helen Delores Morrison.
Lucille is survived by her six nieces and nephews, Robert Jacob and his wife, Roberta, Carolyn Bogo and her husband, Joseph, Margaret Rice and her husband, Ronald, Nancy Hubbard and her husband, David, John Jacob and Parke Jacob and his wife, Sheila, nine great nieces and nephews, Matthew, Robert, Stuart, Thomas, Jennifer, Joseph, James, Margaret “Molly” and John, great great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins including Linda Mader and her husband, Paul and many church friends.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with her pastor, Ron Davis, officiating.
Entombment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
The family would like to thank the staff at Weirton Medical Center and the Wyngate Senior Living Community for their excellent care of Lucille.
