Obituary for Mary Rose Cicchirillo (Ciccarelli)

Mary Rose (Ciccarelli) Cicchirillo, 98, of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 11, 2019 at her son's residence with the assistance of Amedisys Hospice.

Mary was born on June 23, 1921 in Follansbee, WV. She was the daughter of the late Cesare Ciccarelli and Elizabeth (Rossi) Durante Ciccarelli.

Mary was a devoted member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, WV where she served on the Altar Rosary Society and St. Peter Catholic Church, Steubenville, OH. Many will remember Mary for her enjoyment of cooking and baking in addition to being an avid sports fan always cheering on the mighty Brooke Bruins, Steelers and Pirates; but most of all, for her love of her grandchildren especially baby sitting them.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James A Cicchirillo, two sons-in-law, Patrick Sweeney and F. Paul Scurti, a great granddaughter, Ava Maria, ten siblings, Anne Polverini, Angelina Perrone, Rose Ciccarelli, Patsy Ciccarelli, John Ciccarelli, Adam Durante, Ralph Durante, Joseph Ciccarelli - KIA during WWII, Caroline Durante and Anne Durante.

Mary is survived by her six children, Vito Cicchirillo and his wife Joann of Follansbee, WV, Joe Cicchirillo and his wife, Cheryl of Morgantown, WV, Jim Cicchirillo and his wife, Kathy, Carol Ann Scurti-Miller and her husband, Fred, all of Follansbee, WV, Mary Esther Magyer and her husband, Dennis of Steubenville, OH, Dominic Cicchirillo of Oakdale, PA,12 grandchildren, Kelly (Jeff) Petrelle, Marla (Kevin) Hileman, Ashley Cicchirillo, Marcy Cicchirillo Grishkevich, Vincent (Jennifer) Cicchirillo, Tiffany (Josh) Riggleman, Dr. Paul (Dr. Connie) Scurti, James (Kathleen) Scurti, Dominic (Anakristen) Scurti, Michelle Magyer, Melissa Magyer and Victoria Cicchirillo, 13 great grandchildren, Chloe and Kenzey Petrelle, Aubrey Hileman, Kolten Grishkevich, Vincenzo and Ella Cicchirillo, Zachary Riggleman, Sarah and Olivia Scurti, Riley and Aidan Nolan and Liam and Fiona Scurti and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM with a Vigil Service 7:30 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, where funeral will commence on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 9:30 AM.

Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee, WV with Father Jude Perera, presiding.

Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
