Obituary for Michael John Stecik Jr.

Michael John Stecik Jr., 74 of Weirton, WV, passed away at 8:36 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, PA.

Michael was born on December 7, 1947 in Homestead, PA. He was the son of the late Michael Stecik and Helen Stecik.

Michael graduated High School and went on the serve his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam as a Specialist 5. He received numerous medals and honors for his fearless service to include Sharpshooter M-14, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, two Overseas Bars, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Purple Heart. He worked as a Diesel mechanic (roadman) for Beckwith Machinery Company, Delmont, PA and a member of the Local Operators Union 66. Michael was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton, WV serving as a 3rd Degree Knight with the Weirton Knights of Columbus. Many will remember Michael for his love of traveling and road trips; but most of all, serving as the President of the Brooke Football Boasters 90-93 being #1 Dad to his boys and the #1 PAP to his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Diane (Tonkol) Stecik, in 2018.

Michael is survived by his two children, Troy Stecik (Christine Sedelmyer) of Pittsburgh, PA and Kirk Stecik (Brandy) of Colliers, WV, two grandchildren, Briar and Brody Stecik.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 4:00 until time of Service at 7:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717.

Interment will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, February 14, 2022 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the South Hills Honor Guard.
