Obituary for Philip Martin Greathouse
Philip Martin Greathouse, 80 of Bethany, WV, passed away at 12:37 AM on September 24, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center, Steubenville, OH.
Philip was born on June 4, 1941 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late James William Greathouse and Elsie Ann (Stevens) Greathouse.
Philip served his country proudly as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps as a Field Radio Operator. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Philip was a member of the Maine Corps Club of Weirton, WV and volunteered with the Brooke County Pioneer Trail Association, and the Brooke County Museum with his sister, Ruby.
In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his son-in-law John Withers, daughter-in-law, Nikki Greathouse, three brothers, Harold, Robert, and George Greathouse and recently his sister, Ruby Greathouse.
Philip is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Zofchak) Greathouse of Bethany, WV; two children, Tammy Marie (Greathouse) Withers and her fiancé, Dave Lancaster of Colliers, WV and Kenneth Martin Greathouse of Reddick, FL; three grandchildren, Jerid Withers and his wife, Rebecca (Juszczak) Withers, Amanda Withers, and Angela Brinkley; two great grandchildren, Marcus Withers and Jacob Withers; a brother, James “Russ” Greathouse and his wife, Linda; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM and Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 10:00 until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551. Masks are requested.
Military Escort by the WV Patriot Guard to the interment at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV with Military Honors by the United States Marine Corps and the Tri State Marine Corps Club.
