Obituary for Ruth Marie Fowler (Sonda)
Ruth Marie (Sonda) Fowler, 92, of West Liberty, WV, passed away peacefully at 12:57 PM on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.
Ruth was born on October 13, 1929 in Bethany, WV. She was the daughter of the late Charles Stanley and Edith Marie (Turner) Sonda.
Ruth was a 1947 graduate of West Liberty High School. She retired after 25 years of service at the West Liberty Post Office. Ruth was a lifelong member of West Liberty Christain Church and was very active in her community throughout the years. Many will remember Ruth for her smile and always reading a book.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her dear husband, Kenneth Lloyd Fowler, December 26, 2017, two siblings, Charles and Betty Sonda.
Ruth is survived by her two children, Robert "Bob" Fowler and his wife, Tammy of West Liberty, WV and Susan "Sue" Bertelli of Cowen, WV, six grandchildren, Mike Fowler, Teresa "Teri" Hicks and her husband, Tom, Stacie Fowler, Moriah Stewart, Jordan Green and Morgan Tennant and her husband, Terry, five great grandchildren, a brother, Harold Sonda of Wellsburg, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family viewing and service will be held at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Pastor Dennis Arnold, officiating. Interment will follow at Prall Cemetery, West Liberty, WV next to her dear husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Liberty Volunteer Fire Department or the West Liberty Christian Church, C/o Chambers Funeral Homes, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV 26070.
