Obituary for Ruth Ann Lancaster (Ritchea)

Ruth Ann (Ritchea) Lancaster, 87 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 6:15 AM on December 9, 2019 at her residence with her family at her side.

Ruth was born on June 9, 1932 in Brilliant, OH. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret (Murray) Ritchea.

Ruth retired from the plate department at the Tin Mill of Weirton Steel Corp. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church, Wellsburg, WV, served on the Board of Stewards and attended Bible studies throughout the week, Easter Seals, Women of the Moose, and AARP where she served as Past President. Many will remember Ruth for her love of bowling with the Grannies’, being a poll worker, dedication to the community through various organizations; but most of all, for her love of Christ and being a matriarch of the family.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Randell Behanna and four siblings, Alta Williams, Jean Sine, Elva “Boots” Richards and Stanley “Buck” Ritchea.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years, Friend Albert Lancaster of Wellsburg, WV, two daughters, Joyce Gibson and her husband, Edward of Wellsburg, WV and Judith Price of Chapmanville, WV a daughter-in-law, Loretta Behanna of New Cumberland, WV, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friend will be received on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551, with additional visitation at the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 9:00AM until time of Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, with Reverend Steven Hlatky, officiating.

Interment will follow privately at Parkview Memorial Park, Wheeling, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church, 1340 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, WV 26070.
