Obituary for Susan Beth Black (Abernethy)
Susan Beth (Abernethy) Black, age 69, of Wheeling, WV and Beavercreek, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Susan was born on November 5, 1950 in Wheeling, WV. She was the daughter of the late Gerald Smith and Vera Marie (Proellochs) Abernethy.
Susan retired from the Wheeling YWCA after 30 years of service. She also worked as a front desk clerk and night auditor for several different hotels in WV, OH and IL.
Susan was a member of the former Wheeling Christian Church.
Susan is survived by her husband of 34 years, Carl Lee Black; a son, Adam Joseph Abernethy of Shadyside, OH; a step-daughter, Christine Black of Columbus, OH; two grand-daughters, Gabriella Rose and Adriana Joy Abernethy of Erie, PA; two sisters, Rhonda (Bill) Danhart of Wheeling, WV, and Jorja (Bob) Gladden of Beavercreek, OH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 12:30 until time of Life Celebration at 1pm at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551. A light lunch will be served. Interment will be private.
