Obituary for Vera Irene (Perna) Lonchar
Vera Irene (Perna) Lonchar, 80, of Follansbee, WV, passed away5:27 PM on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Mary Jane Brooks Valley Hospice Care Center, Steubenville, OH with her daughters by her side.
Vera was born on June 28, 1938 in Follansbee, WV. She was the daughter of Anthony and Carmina (DeCesare) Perna.
Vera was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church Follansbee where she had served on the Altar and Rosary Society. She retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh as a clerk. Many will remember Vera for attending events at the Brooke County Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, George Lonchar, who passed away on August 6, 2005, seven siblings, Vito, Nick, Mike, Steve and George Perna, and Judith Mastrantoni and Amy DeCesare.
Vera is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Kocher and her husband, Russell and Sandy Lusk and her husband, Kevin, all of Follansbee, WV, five grandchildren, Jamie Hall and her husband, Jerod, TJ Tate and fiancee, Whitney, Rusty Kocher, Alex Tate, Krissa Lusk, three great grandchildren, Everett and Laiken Hall and Olivia Tate and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM with Vigil Service at 7 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, where funeral will commence on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 9:30 AM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee, WV, with Father Raju Antony, presiding.
Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
