Obituary for Vincent J. Chiodo

Vincent J. Chiodo, 89, of Penfield, NY, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 surrounded by family.

Vincent was born on July 8, 1929 in Hackensack, NJ. He was the son of the late Pietro and Rafelle “Fannie” (Luzzaro) Chiodo.

Vincent was a 1947 graduate of Follansbee High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. Vincent was a body man at the Chiodo Auto Body for 55 years started in 1948. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church Follansbee, WV where he served the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus - 4th Degree and a beloved choir. In addition to Catholic Church, Vincent was a member of Theta Chi Alpha Fraternity, Garibaldi, American Legion, all of Follansbee, WV, River Notes of Wellsburg, WV and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Weirton, WV. Many will remember Vincent the most for his love of music, working as a bar tender and cook at St. Francis Centre, being a singer at Festival Choirs at St. Michael; but most of all, for his love of his wife and family.

In addition to his parents, Vincent was preceded in death by his son, Justin Joseph Chiodo.

Vincent is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine (DiLoreto) Chiodo, four children, Dr. Vincent Michael Chiodo and his wife, Dr. Mary Ann of Erwin, NC, Valerie F. Chiodo and her wife, Heidi Miller of Penfield, NY, Lorraine Stanford and her husband, Tony of Siesta Key, FL and Craig J. Chiodo and his wife, Laurie of Lynchburg, VA, 12 grandchildren, Katie Marie Arndt and husband, Johnny of Birmingham, AL, Benjamin, Nicholas, Samuel, Joshua, Gabriella, Marisa, Vanesa, Megan, Monica, Addison, and Justin C., two great grandchildren, Lucy Mae Arndt and Margaret Rose Arndt, three siblings, William “Bill” Chiodo of Follansbee, WV, Frances Cunningham of Wellsburg, WV, and Marie Chiodo of Wellsburg, WV, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM with Theta Chi Alpha Fraternity Service at 6:30 PM, Rosary at 7 PM by the Knights of Columbus and Vigil Service at 7:30 PM with Father Cody Ford at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717 where funeral will commence on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 8:30 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee, WV with Father Cody Ford and Msgr. Eugene S. Ostrowski, con-celebrating.

Entombment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV with military honors by the United State Marine Corps and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
