Wallace Paul Ashbrook, 80 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Pittsburgh, PA.
Wallace was born on January 18, 1939 in Short Creek, WV. He was the son of the late Donald L. and Elsie (Dickson) Ashbrook.
Wallace left high school early to join the military. He served as a Staff Sergeant for 17 years proudly during the tough times of the Vietnam War. Wallace received in the Good Conduct Medal - 1st Award, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, National Defense Service Medal, One Overseas Bar and the Badge of Sharpshooter, Rifle and M-14.
In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his daughter, Darla Ann Pepe, five siblings, Donna Mae, Johnny, Bernie, Gary and Roger Ashbrook.
Wallace is survived by his three children, Candi Ashbrook, Amy Ashbrook Ellis, and Paul Ashbrook, six grandchildren, Lacey, Ethan, Hunter, Sadie, Deanna, and Stephen, great grandchildren, Blaize, Ethan and Aria Ann, two siblings, Simon Ashbrook and his wife, Karen of Wheeling, WV and Mary Kay Wagner of California, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and his dear neighbors and friends, Anthony and Patti Royal.
A Military Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and VFW Post 1810 Honor Guard, Brentwood, PA.
