Obituary for William Robert Cunningham
William Robert Cunningham, 87 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 4:37 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Stonerise, Wellsburg, WV under the care of the staff with assistance of Valley Hospice.
William was born on November 20, 1934 in Wellsburg, WV. William was the son of the late Robert Moore Cunningham and Annie (Silvers) Cunningham.
William was a member of the Apostolic of the Ohio Valley, Beech Bottom, WV. He started working at the age of 17 and didn’t retire until the age of 75 working with Liberty Mines as a Truck Driver / Diesel Mechanic and then with Liberty Distributors in the warehouse. Many will remember William for his love of gardening and always being a hard worker.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (White) Cunningham, three siblings, Mary Pearl Cunningham, John Cunningham and Myra Winters and a brother-in-law, George Winters.
William is survived by his two children, Sharon Cunningham Kearns and her husband, Richard Kearns of Wellsburg, WV and Henry Cunningham of Jerusalem, OH, eight grandchildren, Shawn, Robert and Michael Groch, Traci McAdams, Blake Devier, Annie Jane Cunningham, Victoria Bowman and Justin Casto, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, three siblings, Shirley Winters and Henry Cunningham, both of Wellsburg, WV, and Paul Cunningham and his wife, Alice of Independence, PA, a sister-in-law, Darlene, a brother-in-law, Don and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Pastor Larry Wallbrown, officiating.
Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery, Avella, PA.
