Obituary for Woodrow E. "Nick" Rogers

Woodrow E. “Nick” Rogers Jr., 81 of Wellsburg, WV and Palmetto, FL passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in Palmetto, FL.

Nick was born on December 3, 1939. He was the son of the late Woodrow E. Rogers Sr. and Nellie Evelyn (Loughry) Rogers.

Nick retired after close to 50 years of service to Pillsbury Co. and ADM Milling, Wellsburg. He was a maintenance machinist professional that could fix absolutely anything. He was a member of the Wellsburg United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge and a life-time member of the Wellsburg Moose. Many will remember Nick for his love of family and friends, celebrating life, boating/fishing and especially his enjoyment of the beautiful Ohio River and looking at the ocean.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his sister, Anita K. Rogers.

Nick is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirlie (Barrett) Rogers, a daughter, Kimberlie Rogers-Bowers and her husband, David of Madeira Beach, FL, two siblings, Joel Rogers and his wife, Sandy and Alma Henthorn, all of Wellsburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 10:00-12 Noon and 2:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551 with Minister Jarred Jimenez of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Following the formal memorial service family and friends are welcome to the Wellsburg Moose Lodge for a Celebration of Nick's Life at 5:00 PM.

Interment will be held privately at the Columbarium at the Brooke County Public Library - Wellsburg Branch, just steps from the beloved Ohio River.
