Obituary

Caroline Mae Van Dyke, 85, formerly of Windsor Heights West Virginia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Hobe Sound Florida on Saturday May 18th, 2019.

Caroline was born December 31, 1933 in Windsor Heights West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Stipandic. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Donald (2009) and a brother, Paul “Pike” Stipandic (1950).

She is survived by her five children, Arleen Knight (companion Stuart), Mary Ellen Croteau and Mark (Dawn) Van Dyke, all of Hobe Sound, FL, Diane (Jim) Berlin of Tequesta, FL and Donald (Chris) Van Dyke of Shadyside, OH. She was dearly known as “Nana” to her eight grandchildren Isaac (Meredith) Knight, Donnie (Heather) and Daniel (Chasity) Van Dyke, Ryan (Nadia) and Justin Croteau, Alec and Caroline Van Dyke, Joshua Berlin and six great grandchildren. Caroline is also survived by two sisters, Rosemary Stipandic and Judy (Milton) Ford, a brother, Ed (Barbara) Stipandic and brother in law, Wayne (Judy) Van Dyke.

Caroline was employed at Ernie’s Esquire Supper Club for more than a decade in the 60’s and 70’s. For several years she was a consultant for Home Interiors, Inc. where she first realized her enthusiasm for floral design. She attended Hixon’s School of Floral Design in Cleveland, Ohio and fulfilled her dream by opening her own floral and gift shop “A Touch of Country” in Windsor Heights in 1984. She found her true passion with designing unique and beautiful arrangements for many different and special occasions.

After both her and Don’s retirement, they moved to Hobe Sound Florida in 1995. She continued her love and passion working with flowers by creating an amazing landscaped yard. The yard was often visited by neighbors and friends and was the talk of the town.

Caroline was a member of the Jupiter/Tequesta Church of Christ and the National Road Church of Christ, Wheeling West Virginia.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at the National Road Church of Christ, Wheeling, Monday, October 14th at 1:00. Friends are invited to join the family for an early dinner after the service.

In Honor of Caroline, memorial contributions may be made to the Group Care Program at Mount Dora Children’s Home, 301 W 13th. Ave, Mount Dora, FL 32757, 352-383-9906 or the National Road Church of Christ.
