Obituary

Robert Oren Dailey, 79 of St. Marys, WV passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Carehaven of Pleasants under the care of the staff with the assistance of Housecalls Hospice.

Robert was born on March 20, 1941 in Wick, Tyler County, WV. He was the son of the late Russell L. and Vesta E. (Chipps) Dailey.

Robert retired from Fenton Art Glass in Williamstown, WV. After retirement he worked for the Sistersville Ferry. Robert loved this job because he was able to socialize with the patrons. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. Many will remember Robert for spending time with his family and being known as the sneaky grandpa. He always made sure all the kids got their sweets every time they saw him. Bob had his special sandwich of bacon and tomato which he ate on a daily basis. Everyone around him loved him and he brought so much joy to everyone and will be forever remembered.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Donald Dailey, a sister, Mabel Cox and a brother, Paul Dailey.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Wilma Brookover and her husband, Edgel, of St. Marys, WV, six grandchildren, Emily DeLancey and her husband, Austan of St. Marys, WV, Joseph “Joey” Baker-Soly and his husband, Dan of Wellsburg, WV, Michael Baker and his wife, Brandy of Sistersville, WV, and Savanna and Meagan Brookover of Parkersburg, WV, great grandchildren, Gabriella and Aydan DeLancey, Connor and Peyton Baker, Alex Amick and Jackson and Phoenix Davis, a brother, Bernard Dailey and his wife, Melanie of Alabama and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private graveside service will be held at Friendly Cemetery, Friendly, WV under the direction and care of the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Pastor David “Packy” Beaver, officiating.

Wilma and family, I was sorry to hear your dad passed away. When I was a kid growing up he would play baseball with all us kids at your grandparents. Yes, he did cheat a few times which always got us kids going! I don't think I ever seen him without is chaw of tobacco and he was always telling some big story. He will be missed.
