Obituary

Paul Conrad Misch, 64, of Colliers, WV, passed away at 2:18 AM on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Mary Jane Brooks Valley Hospice Care Center, Steubenville, OH.

Paul was born on May 20, 1954 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Henry C. and Betty (Wise) Misch.

Paul was raised in the United Methodist Church and was a 1972 graduate of Brooke High School where he played football and lettered all four years. He went on to WV Institute of Technology. Paul retired after 33 years of service at Weirton Steel Corp. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, NRA, Weirton Bowling Association and the Brooke County Sportsman Club. Many will remember Paul for his love of motorcycles, sports, hunting, bowling and golfing; but most of all for being a family man.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his two sisters, Baby Connie Misch and Henrietta Fox.

Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol (Fabian) Misch of Colliers, WV, three children, Paul Misch Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Scott Depot, WV, Stephanie Ramer and her husband, Mark and Darcy Clark and her husband, David, all of Beaver, PA, six grandchildren, Avery Ziarko and Markie Ramer, Ethan and Alivia Clark and Peyton and Carolyn Misch, who he loved spending time with, mother-in-law, Donna Fabian of Colliers, WV, and many extended family and friends.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 17, 2019 2:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 10:00 until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV, (304) 737-3551 with Reverend Larry Barkley, close friend and co-worker, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, C/O Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV 26070.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring and dedicated nurses and staff at Trinity Hospital ICU and Valley Hospice.

I am saddened to learn of Paul's passing and ask that you accept my sincere sympathy. I remember Paul not only as an outstanding athlete but as particularly good student. Hidden behind that little gleam in his eyes was a keen, focused mind. He had the answer but never offered it; he caught the joke but never revealed it; he understood the reasoning and background and used it. I will hold him in my most favorite classroom memories.

Paul’s father Henry and my father John worked together in the Weirton Steel Company, Strip Steel Division, Electrical Department, Crane repair gang in Weirton, WV. The two families used to vacation together from 1964 into the 1970’s fishing for mostly Northern Pike in the Gracefield, Quebec area at Lake Permichangan which drains into Thirty One Mile Long Lake at Point Comfort where Gaston Alie had a country store. I used to enjoy Henry’s stories of being a radio operator on B-17’s flying combat missions over Europe during WW II.
Paul, Henry, Henrietta and I flew together on a commercial airline from Greater Pitt Airport in Pittsburgh, PA to Atlanta Georgia on December 28, 1972. We sat together. It was my first flight on a commercial airline/jet powered airplane.

As Paul’s father Henry and mother Betty lived long lives, I was shocked to hear of Paul and his sister Henrietta passing so soon.

I wish the extended Misch family all the best dealing with the loss of their loved one.
